Chennai Lions are hungry for success

Chennai Super Kings - The Lions den, this team with no iconic player from the city, did an unthinkable job by being the highest bidder in the competition outplaying RIL’s Mumbai for M.S.Dhoni. With a good expertise of knowledge about the game in the city, it will surely be a crowd-puller in this part of the country. Even if they had chosen some other player as its icon, the Chennai team would still have the full support of its crowd.

A team with top class batsmen and bowlers of variant talents around the globe, holding the trophy should not be a big challenge. This team is the one with perfect balance of experience and fresh minds. With big names such as Dhoni, Hayden, Murali and Hussey the team remains to be the favorite of all. Fan following is one great advantage of Chennai Super Kings. Chennai is the place where people worship the game. Varying from small kids to old aged people everyone has the same craze for the game since years.

For a team that was a finalist in 2008 and semi-finalist in 2009, these are hard days with the task of making it to the top four, much less winning the tournament, getting increasingly difficult. What is going wrong for the team, the bowling combination that has turned out to be playing the see-saw, not knowing which bowler would let the team down with one bad over. To top it, the batting, considered to be their strength, has not been firing consistently.

It is time for the Chennai Lions to unsheathe their claws and go for the kill. After all, they seem to be hungry for success.

Yusuf accuses Symonds of sledging

Rajasthan Royals batsman Yusuf Pathan accused Andrew Symonds of sledging him during an Indian Premier League match here and said the Australian's behaviour made him more determined to go for big shots against Deccan Chargers bowlers here on Friday.

Yusuf smashed Deccan bowlers to all parts of the ground to score a quickfire unbeaten 74 to power Rajasthan to a eight-wicket win over the Hyderabad side.

Soon after guiding his side home, Yusuf said Deccan Chargers' all-rounder Symonds sledged him while he came out to bat.

"It inspires you makes you more determined when a opposition player sledges you. When I went in to bat today, Symonds exchanged a few words and and it made me more determined to score runs," Yusuf said after the match.

During his 34-ball unbeaten innings, Yusuf big hitting skills were on full display as he hit as many as eight sixes and two fours.

"I batted well. My mummy papa (mom-father) have been coming for the last two games and I am happy that I scored some runs for them today. The ball was coming nicely on to the bat," the dangerous right-hander, who was selected in India's Twenty20 World Cup squad, said.

N-Viro Today's Technologies - Tomorrow's Solutions

N-Viro International Corporation ( http://www.nviro.com/) is a
waste-to-energy company that converts various types of wastes into green energy products. The Company transforms municipal biosolids and other organic waste streams into beneficial products such as our patented renewable biofuel N-Viro Fuel™ and N-Viro Soil™.

http://www.nviro.com/

N-Viro International Corporation (Symbol: NVIC
http://www.nviro.com/) utilizes patented technologies to stabilize and disinfect municipal bio solids and other organic waste products. These technologies safely and efficiently transform waste streams into beneficial reuse products.

The N-Viro technologies involve the mixing of municipal bio solids with specific alkaline waste products from the coal combustion electric generation, cement and lime industries. This process stabilizes organic waste thru pasteurization and complete disinfection.

Historically, N-Viro has operated an N-Viro Soil processing facility under contract with the City of Toledo. N-Viro's technology has been licensed through-out the United States and internationally with overwhelming success. Recently N-Viro acquired the Volusia County facility located in Daytona, Florida. Florida N-Viro facility processes municipal bio solids into N-Viro Soil from many municipalities in the central Florida area.

Their green technologies complement each other and build upon a unique concept transforming waste products into a beneficial fertilizer or ultimately creating N-Viro Fuel a renewable alternative fuel perfectly synergistic with the coal combustion industry.

The N-Viro Fuel technology was recently tested on a full-scale basis at the Michigan State University coal-fired power plant. Two different fuels, one made from biosolids and the other from manure, were blended with eastern Ohio coal and burned in the power plant’s fluidized bed boiler. The blended fuels performed well compared to coal alone; air emissions were below regulatory limits, and the boiler performed normally.

Tendulkar rules out playing Twenty20 World Cup

Master batsman Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday ruled out playing in this year's Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies, saying he sticks to his stance of not playing Twenty20 Internationals anymore.

Even though Tendulkar is not among the 30 probables already selected for the April 30-May 16 event, former captain Sunil Gavaskar led the chorus, asking Tendulkar, who is in sensational form, to change his stance and play in the Twenty20 World Cup.

Tendulkar, however, dismissed the possibility. "I will not be playing the ICC World Twenty20. I have not played Twenty20 Internationals from 2007 onwards and I don't think it should become an issue now," Tendulkar said.

Tendulkar, along with senior players Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, had opted out of the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup, which Indian won under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy.

Since then, Tendulkar has kept himself out of Twenty20 Internationals, saying he did not want to upset the team which had won the 2007 World Cup.

Two new IPL teams Kochi and Pune

Barely two years ago, when Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd made the highest bid for an Indian Premier League franchise (Rs 441 crore for Mumbai), many termed it as a gamble on a risky concept.

The IPL sure has come a long way in a short time, with the Sahara group on Sunday bidding Rs 1,702 crore for Pune and Rendezvous Sports World forking out Rs 1,533 crore for Kochi. In fact, these two bids, worth a total of about Rs 3,235 crore, add up to more than the Rs 2,853 crore collectively paid by the existing eight franchise owners in the first auction, on January 24, 2008.

The IPL is invariably full of surprises and Sunday was no different. Favourites Adani Group and VC Digital (Videocon Group) were pipped by Sahara and a consortium of real estate players and businessmen brought together by Union minister Shashi Tharoor under the banner of Rendezvous Sports.

The two new teams will become part of IPL in the 2011 edition. The franchises will be valid for 10 years. The bidding, conducted behind closed doors, lasted less than an hour after the contenders trooped into a hotel in Chennai. The base price for each team was $225 million, more than four times the rate at which the first IPL auction began in 2008.

IPL commissioner Lalit Modi said five eligible bids were received in all, which included Rendezvous Sports, Sahara, Aman Vohra, Adani and VC Digital. There was a dash of glamour with Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan dropping in to represent some groups.

Sahara topped with a $370-million (Rs 1,702 crore) bid for a clutch of cities which included Ahmedabad, Nagpur or Pune. Eventually, the Subrata Roy-controlled group opted for Pune.

Micromax Q5

It’s quite a relief to see a QWERTY handset that seems to have its own ‘personality and doesn’t look like some random Blackberry. Micromax’s previous model, the Q3 was definitely not one of the devices I’d recommend for users looking for this particular style of handset. This, the Q5 or ‘ezpad’ as it’s been dubbed, was apparently designed to be true bliss for the avid social networker and here’s how it fared.
Form Factor:
The handset’s prime focus is around the keypad and not the screen. Hence we’re once again witness to the slightly awkward Micromax LCD panel. Although this one is a less skewed than the Q3’s it’s nevertheless the handset's biggest drawback. Thankfully the large QWERTY keypad is fantastic. The buttons are easy to use and well spaced and will take no more than a couple of attempts to get used to. Navigation is a breeze thanks to the Track Ball. To ensure that the Q5 is branded a social networking handset, Micromax has incorporated two dedicated shortcut buttons for Facebook and the MSN app. A standard mini USB and a 3.5m socket are conveniently located at the base of the handset.

The Q5 is not a good looking handset but it’s well constructed for ease of use. It also packs quite a bit of weight, which is a little unusual, but somehow that manages to balance the handset quite well. Micromax has also included a rubberized case for the handset as well as a comfortable handsfree kit amongst the accessories.

Features and performance:
Interface:
The UI is a non issue. The handset seems to be designed for speed and there’s no lag whatsoever. It’s the same Java OS though so features-wise it’s all the same. There’s only the cosmetic change to make it look different. Another plus point is that everything is very neatly categorized. The only issue is the weird LCD panel that makes it a bit difficult to stare into for prolonged periods.

Media:
The music player is superb. Thanks to Yamaha’s contribution, the audio quality and decibel level is in plentiful. The Q5 comes with a Bass enhancement setting, EQ presets that include 3D surround modes as well as Reverb effects, both of which make no sense to have in a mobile handset but they’re there. Through the settings menu the sound quality can be further adjusted via an 8 band graphic EQ option. If the bundled handsfree doesn’t do it for you, I’d suggest investing in a good set of earphones for a better audio experience.

The FM radio that has a recording option as well has really good reception. In almost all areas including places where handsets in this range usually come up just average, the Q5 somehow managed to provide really good reception. The voice recorder is quite handy for memos but don’t keep the mic too far. A distance of about 2.5 feet will be sufficient for clear voice recordings. There’s also an image editor feature that allows you to make a few adjustments to photos post capture.

Another very pleasant surprise was the fact that all of my test videos in 3GP and MPEG4 formats played without a hitch, including the higher resolution ones. If it weren’t for the display again, it would make for easy viewing of even full length movies.

Nokia OVI

Ovi by Nokia is the brand for Nokia's Internet services. The Ovi services can be used from a mobile device, computer (through Nokia Ovi Suite) or via the web (Ovi.com).

Nokia focuses on five key services areas: Games, Maps, Media, Messaging and Music. Nokia's aim with Ovi is to include 3rd parties, such as operators and third-party services like Yahoo's Flickr photo site. With the announcement of Ovi Maps Player API, Nokia has started to evolve their services into a platform, enabling third-parties to make use of Nokia's Ovi services.

It has some significance in that Nokia is moving deeper into the world of Internet services, where head-on competition with Microsoft, Google and Apple is inevitable.

Ovi was announced on August 29, 2007 at the Go Play event in London. The word "ovi" means "door" in Finnish. On December 4, a more ambitious plan was announced with more details about when public beta desktop software would be offered. The public beta was released August 28, 2008.

Nokia over time has acquired key building blocks for Ovi. This includes IP, patents and core components such as synchronization. Acquired IP, patents include companies such as Starfish Software, Intellisync, NAVTEQ, Gate5, Plazes and others. Other components have been developed internally.

In May 20 2009 at the Where 2.0 event in San Jose, CA, USA Nokia announced the release of the Ovi Maps Player API, allowing web developers to embed Ovi Maps into a website using JavaScript.

Next Gen iPad with Camera, Video Conferencing

The next gen iPad will come with video conferencing and other camera related features. How do we know this? What happened was that Apple had released the third beta of the iPhone OS 3.2 software development kit for the iPad to developers but later pulled it back. However, some developers had already downloaded beta 3 before it was pulled back, reported MacRumors.

Recently, the icons for video chat and other inferences were reported from the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK for iPad. With the third beta of the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK, more references to the camera and tab in the photos.app application discovered by 9to5 Mac were made. These too indicate that a camera clad iPad is evidential in future. This camera will come with a flash, zoom and will be front facing.

Apart from that, the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK also revealed that the iPad uses PowerVR SGX graphics hardware which is from the same family as that of iPhone and iPod Touch. The exact snippet from the beta 3 documentation states:
Using OpenGL ES on iPad is identical to using OpenGL ES on other iPhone OS devices. An iPad is a PowerVR SGX device and supports the same basic capabilities as other SGX devices. However, because the processor, memory architecture, and screen dimensions are different for iPad, you should always test your code on an iPad device before shipping to ensure performance meets your requirements.
After knowing all the above mentioned facts, who's going to buy the current generation iPad that would be released in March?

Free Samples from Tony's Pizza

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Tony's Pizza. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was offered the opportunity to sample a Tony's Pizza product for free. One cheese, one pepperoni and one supreme. Now lets be honest. This is frozen pizza. Regardless of how good frozen pizza is, it isn't the same as freshly made pie. We all know that, but it's not the point.

Some times you get a craving for pizza and want it in your face in under 12 minutes. Additionally I paid $40 for our last pizza meal delivered. Tony's would have cost me under $2 a pie. For speed and price you just can't beat it. In the past I have had some really bad frozen pizza. So bad, we have pitched them in the trash and made cheese sandwiches. With only 12 minutes to wait, dinner is speedy! You have to put the pizza directly on the oven rack to get the crust truly crisp.

Again for a reasonably priced dinner well under $5 delivered in record time, I would totally Tony it again! For that price it would make a great pizza for any event or game night.

I have a number of free pizza coupons if anyone is interested just let me know! (locals only please)

Microsoft Security Advisory

Microsoft is investigating new public reports of a vulnerability in VBScript that is exposed on supported versions of Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 through the use of Internet Explorer. Our investigation has shown that the vulnerability cannot be exploited on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2008. The main impact of the vulnerability is remote code execution. We are not aware of attacks that try to use the reported vulnerabilities or of customer impact at this time.

The vulnerability exists in the way that VBScript interacts with Windows Help files when using Internet Explorer. If a malicious Web site displayed a specially crafted dialog box and a user pressed the F1 key, arbitrary code could be executed in the security context of the currently logged-on user. On systems running Windows Server 2003, Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is enabled by default, which helps to mitigate against this issue.
We are actively working with partners in our Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP) to provide information that they can use to provide broader protections to customers.

Upon completion of this investigation, Microsoft will take the appropriate action to help protect our customers. This may include providing a security update through our monthly release process or providing an out-of-cycle security update, depending on customer needs.

Microsoft is concerned that this new report of a vulnerability was not responsibly disclosed, potentially putting computer users at risk. We continue to encourage responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities. We believe the commonly accepted practice of reporting vulnerabilities directly to a vendor serves everyone's best interests. This practice helps to ensure that customers receive comprehensive, high-quality updates for security vulnerabilities without exposure to malicious attackers while the update is being developed.
