Nokia N8 12MP camera phone officially launched

Nokia has finally accepted and acknowledged the existence of its next generation Symbian smartphone - the N8. The phone has had its specifications leaked just a day ago and it seems, Nokia has had enough. The company has announced the phone officially. The N8 has been in the news lately and it was just yesterday that the first reviews of the handset surfaced. Just a few hours later, a document detailing the phones spec sheet was revealed.

Now that the phone has been made official, let's see what it has in store for you the potential buyer. The N8 happens to be Nokia's first 12 megapixel camera phone - complete with Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and a large sensor that, according to Nokia, rivals those found in compact digital cameras. The N8 is also the first Nokia device to support HD Video recording. The N8 also features a built-in video editing suite - the effectiveness of which we're unsure of. The phone supports Dolby Digital Plus surround sound and users can connect it to their home theatre system. Contrary to the expectation that it would come with 64GB of internal memory, it will ship with "just" 16GB of in-built storage space. With MicroSD slots, the memory is expandable up to 48GB.

Unlike the last Symbian based flagship, the N97, the N8 runs the latest version of the Symbian OS - Symbian ^3. While they share quite a few visual cues, S60 Version5 and Symbian^3 are two different operating systems. Symbian^3 supports multitouch (although as of now we're unsure if it has been used effectively on the N8), flick scrolling and pinch-zoom. The Nokia N8 also offers multiple, personalizable homescreens which can be loaded with apps and widgets. The new 2D and 3D graphics architecture in the platform takes full advantage of the Nokia N8's hardware acceleration to deliver a faster and more responsive user interface. Symbian^3 also raises the bar in performance by delivering greater memory management allowing more applications to run in parallel for a faster multi-tasking experience. It remains to be seen how much of an actual enhancement does Symbian^3 bring to the end user experience.

The N8 is fully social networking ready. Users can update their status, share location and photos, and view live feeds from Facebook and Twitter in a single app directly on the home screen. Calendar events from social networks can also be transferred to the device calendar.

The phone has a 3.5-inch capacitive screen with a 360x640 resolution. While the resolution might not be very high compared to Android based devices, the AMOLED display will make it look quite impressive. The device in its prototype avatar had a non standard sized HDMI port, we seriously hope this has been rectified in the final version. Even with all these features, the phone manges to stay quite slim at just 12.9 mm thin!

The N8 will be available in select markets during the third quarter of 2010. It is estimated to be priced at around the EUR 370 (Rs. 22,000) mark. This is the price minus taxes or subsidies. Also, it would be outright foolish to expect this phone to be priced below the 25k mark in India - so don't get your hopes too high.

Dermajuv skin care products

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Dermajuv Skin Care Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hey, have you heard of the Dermajuv skin care products? It is a new skin care line that features a relatively new active anti-aging ingredient, Matrixyl. Everyone with aging skin wants great results for younger skin but how do you choose the best aging skin treatments? Dermajuv Wrinkle Cream is getting a lot of attention right now as a new rejuvenation product that targets cell renewal at a DNA level.

My mom has honestly never had much of a skin care routine, but my grandma sure does! I always found it entrancing how long my grandma spent getting ready for bed at night and getting ready for work in the morning. She has a million different lotions, potions, creams, etc.

Today though, products are improving. It seems like you can use fewer products, and they are much more effective! Skin care is more scientific and exact now, and I would be willing to bet it is even safer. One of the best tactics in selecting skin rejuvenation treatments to ensure that you get the best result is to know which clinically proven active anti-aging ingredients to look for on the product ingredient label.

You do read the ingredient labels don’t you?

Dermajuv provides three complete systems against aging. These Systems consist of different products which will help you eliminate wrinkles, large pores, redness, and age spots , instantly lift fine lines, regenerate skin cells, shrink puffy bags, fade out dark circles, etc. Dermajuv has currently six products you can buy separately or in complete Systems. Dynamic Age-Defying Serum, Instant-Effect Lifting Serum, Neck Restoration Cream, Original Wrinkle Smoothing Cream, Therapeutic Cleansing Gel and Eye Revolution Gel.

As important as choosing products that include active anti-aging ingredients it is also critically important to select only those products that specify the percentage of the active ingredient used in the formulation of that product.

A great feature of the Dermajuv system is that it incorporates a powerful percentage of palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 which they specify in all their ingredient information. Though, be reminded that there isn’t just one anti-aging skin care treatment that can address all the symptoms of aging skin. It is important to develop a facial rejuvenation regimen that includes a selection of different active anti-aging ingredients to target all your aging skin concerns.

The Dermajuv Wrinkle Cream is a great starting point. You will then want to add gradually a few other treatments with active anti-aging ingredients to achieve results for the variety of symptoms typical of aging skin.

Origin of Life Chicken-and-Egg Problem Solved

A chicken-and-egg paradox at the foundations of life may finally be solved.

Scientists have wondered how the first simple, self-replicating chemicals could have formed complex, information-rich genetic structures, when replication was originally such an error-prone process. Every advance would soon be lost to copying errors.

According to a new study, the answer may lie in the fundamental nature of those chemicals. The errors may have triggered an automatic shutdown of replication. Such stalling would allow only error-free sequences to be completed, giving them a chance at evolving.

“A chemical system with this property would be able to propagate sequences long enough to have function,” wrote researchers led by Harvard University systems biologist Irene Chen. The study was published April 1 in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Scientists think life’s first spark came in the form of ribonucleic acid, or RNA. The single-stranded molecular forerunner of the DNA in every animal’s genes, RNA is the basis of the simplest self-replicating structures.

Estimates of error rates in early RNA replication run around 20 percent. For every pair of basic chemical units in a molecule of RNA, there was a one in five chance of getting the match wrong when a copy was made.

Strands of RNA longer than five units would be rare — and even simple RNA structures responsible for improving copy fidelity are 30 units long. Getting to that point would be practically impossible, and error-ridden copies would steal chemical resources from successful molecules.

But researchers have observed that DNA sometimes stalls when an error occurs during self-replication. If that could happen to RNA, then only accurate copies would continue to replicate, reasoned Chen’s team. The paradox would be solved.

RNA proved too unstable to work with, so Chen’s team used simple, short strands of DNA as a proxy. They put the strands in a mixture of organic compounds known to have existed on early Earth, and tagged them with fluorescent proteins that allowed reactions to be tracked.

As the researchers watched, errors caused DNA self-replication to slow. The model system was only an approximation of early Earth chemistry, but if such pauses existed for RNA, they would have allowed RNA to evolve into complicated forms.

“They’ve gone beyond the paradox,” said Bodo Stern, a Harvard University systems biologist who wasn’t involved in the study. “Whether that’s what happened, we don’t know, but it’s a conceptual leap forward.”

Stalling appears to be a natural function of DNA’s geometry. “Imagine that DNA is a zipper. The next piece is the incoming nucleotide. If the next piece is not exactly aligned with the remainder of the zipper, it will have a hard time getting into position,” Chen said.

According to Hans-Joachim Ziock, a protocellular researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory, “anything that can help make correct copies would help, so base mismatches slowing the replication process would be beneficial.” But he said that even without an error-stalling function, nucleic acids may eventually have taken higher forms.

Make your Garden grow

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of MyOrganicGardeningBlog.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring is the best season of all. I really love this season a lot. The red buds are in full bloom. The Dogwoods are just beginning to open, and our brown forest is turning green by the day. The early vegetables are in the garden, and look there are blooms on my strawberry plants! The blooms are on the ever bearing plants.

The garden seems to bring new challenges every year, and because organic gardening is somewhat new to me, I am constantly looking for helpful tips and information. Organic Gardening has much more helpful information. It is written for the experienced and the novice gardener. There are posts about vegetable gardening, pests, and flowers.

A friend once told me to try organic gardening. According to an article from the organic gardening I read online, you can grow flowers in your garden organically too. This needs a lot of work but it's worth it. Spring is the best time for starting the blooms in our garden. It would be very nice for my front yard garden to have a make-over, I think. And my honey will be proud because she likes gardening too.

It is a Pandora’s box of awesome tips for your garden. From weed removal to plantations, from summer care for your lawn to winter blues. The site has it all. I was reluctant at first but my lawn was in pathetic shape so I had to give it a shot. Thankfully, I decided to try it out and easily got rid of crab grass and dandelions. Moreover, this product was available on the site - http://www.saferbrand.com and I found a 20% discount coupon code SBSSMOGB online. You can follow them on twitter too, http://www.twitter.com/saferbrand.

Ash to dub in Tamil

Mani Ratnam, one of India's finest filmmakers, is busy wrapping up his most ambitious project Raavan, which is expected to grace theatres on June 18, 2010. Sources close to the unit say that Aishwarya has completed dubbing for Hindi and has begun to dub her Tamil lines for the Tamil version. Her cofidence and diction in Tamil have impressed all crew members. She is also likely to dub for her role in Enthiran.

Raavan, said to be the modern adaptation of the epic Ramayana, revolves around Raavana, the ruler of Lanka, who kidnapped Sita. The story culminates with Sita supporting Raavana instead of Rama, who suspects her chastity after having spent so much time in Raavana’s custody. Vikram plays the villain. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are the lead pair in Hindi, while Vikram will play the lead opposite Aishwarya in Tamil. Music is by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman.

Hugh Jackman speaks about Wolverine sequel

Although production of a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine heavily hinges on the success of the first movie, that isn’t stopping Hugh Jackman developing the idea.

“I won’t lie to you, I have been talking to writers,” Jackman told MTV News. “I’m a big fan of the Japanese saga in the comic book.”

“However, it was also another one of my goals that you could see the end of this movie parlaying straight into ['X-Men'], finding that guy in the bar, fighting, drinking, with not much recollection of what’s going on,” added Jackman. “I thought that was important. However, we’ll find out beginning of May if there’s still an audience for it, if people still like the character. There’s no point in telling the story if no one wants to hear it.”

Clearly, Jackman’s not one to change his mind, as this isn’t the first time he’s mentioned to MTV his desire to take Wolverine to Japan. However, for those fans out there who think he’s simply parlaying his successful run as Wolverine into an extended vacation to the Japanese countryside, the actor makes it quite apparent that he definitely knows his Wolverine.

“There are so many areas of that Japanese story,” Jackman explained. “I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world — I can see it aesthetically, too — full of honor and tradition and customs and someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his way. The idea of the samurai, too — and the tradition there. It’s really great. In the comic book he gets his ass kicked by a couple of samurai — not even mutants. He’s shocked by that at first.”

We have no doubt X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a success, and so we also have no doubt a sequel will emerge. As fans of the comic, we can’t think of a better step to take than to explore the Japanese story arc. After all, fans of the comic know all too well that much of Logan’s comic character was forged there.

“There’s also a great, very intricate story there with Mariko,” adds Jackman in reference to one of Wolverine’s lost loves. “And so many cool ways we could go.”

Karthik speaks on Raavan!

By now, we all know that yesteryear heart-throb Karthik is making a comeback in Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited Raavan. “I was absent from the big screen for quite some time and I was looking forward to doing a film with a good director. That’s when I got a call from Mani’s office. I heard the story over the phone and immediately accepted the project. I wanted to concentrate only on Raavan and didn’t want to sign any other film until its release,” the Agni Natchataram actor said to a leading English daily.

“But when I was shooting in Mumbai, Prabhu met me and asked if I could do a role in A. Venkatesh’s Maanja Velu with Arun Vijay. He also screened Malai Malai for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Meanwhile, P. Vasu also approached me for Puli Vesham. Before I realized what was happening, I had signed three beautiful projects! In the Tamil version of Raavan, I play a jovial character, which Govinda will be playing in the Hindi version. In Maanja Velu, I play Arun Vijay’s brother and in Puli Vesham, I play an encounter specialist,” he added.

“Mani and I go a long way back. He’s my brother’s friend and when we did Mouna Raagam, our bond strengthened. In fact, I was a last-minute addition to the cast. I shot for just a week and that too, after the entire film was wrapped up. I still can’t forget the fun I had while filming the Mr. Chandramouli scene, which was shot in a small restaurant in Nungambakkam. People often recalled that dialogue when they had to introduce me on stage at events. When Mani signed me for Raavan, I told him it was my big comeback and thanked him for the opportunity. And Mani shot back, 'Are you crazy? You belong here,' ” the actor recalled.

“I was going through an emotional and financial crisis. I was a complete wreck and couldn’t concentrate. It was partly my fault too. But now, I want to put it all behind and start concentrating on my future. I read reports that my son Gautham will debut in the remake of Alaigal Oivathillai with Radha’s daughter Karthika. But, he’s still in college and has no experience or exposure yet,” Karthik said.

Maruti Cervo price 1,50,000*

India’s largest auto manufacturer, Maruti is planning to launch another small car model Maruti Cervo in entry level segment in the Indian auto market. Maruti is working aggressively to launch Maruti Cervo in Indian market as a counter attack to Tata Nano which has stormed the auto market with its ultra low cost.

It is expected that Maruti Cervo will be launched in the Indian auto market in the month of May or June 2010. It is expected that the Maruti Cervo price will fall in the range of Rs 1.5 lacs to Rs 2 lacs.
Maruti is a market leader for small car market but the launch of Tata Nano has affected heavily the sales of Maruti 800. It is expected that the Maruti Cervo will be priced in the range of Rs 1.5 to 2 lacs. To reduce its manufacturing cost Maruti Suzuki may reduce some features from the original model which is available in Japan. It is also expected that after the launch Maruti Cervo will overtake the company’s most popular models Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto.

In a tussle to capture entry level segment in the Indian auto market, Maruti is aggressively working on Maruti Cervo to launch it in the Indian auto market by the end of this June. Maruti Cervo is a five door hatchback model with spacious passenger cabin. Maruti Cervo will be equipped with the 0.7L, 660cc petrol engine which is able to produce maximum power of 60bhp. This power-plant delivers peppy performance with great fuel efficiency.

The arching roofline, sporty headlamps and fog lamps which is placed next to its large grille makes the front appearance of Maruti Cervo very aggressive. Its rear is also appealing with its high mounted large tail lamps. The rear seat of Maruti Cervo can accommodate only two passengers while the front row has a lot more storage space as compared to the rear row. The luggage box has enough space to carry daily shopping bags.

After the launch Maruti Cervo will surely attract the younger generation with its sporty stylish look, classy interiors and sleek exterior design. The extremely sleek look, efficient engine and economical price range is bound to give a good start to Maruti Cervo. According to the predictions and speculation of auto experts, Maruti Cervo will be the fastest and most selling car in the Indian auto market, after its launch.

The number of variants of India bound Maruti Cervo is not confirmed so far. However, as soon as the updates will be there, we will bring it to you under the same heading. Stay tuned.
