St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, came to India in the 1st century A.D., and established one of the oldest churches in the world. It is said he died here and was buried on top of what we now call St. Thomas Mount, Chennai.On St. Thomas feast day, July 3rd, a movie based on the martyr’s life was officially launched at the Santhome Basilica by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. Many political and religious luminaries graced the occasion with their presence.
The film will be produced on a budget of Rs. 50 rores. Ajith and his wife Shalini will appear in cameo roles. A few Hollywood stars are also set to feature in this film which will be shot on location in Chennai, Idukki, Munnar and a some foreign locales.
The film will start production in January, 2009 and will be released in 2010.
