Gang Member's B'Day

Its Birthday celebration time and should say belated celebration time. My Friend Kailash's birthday was on 23rd July, as he is doing his M.B.B.S in Kanchipuram he was not here on his birthday. So we all decided to get him on this Saturday for the belated celebration as he will be home for his weekends.

My schoolmate, I think I know him from my 5th std, and he was one of the popular guys in our school. Everyone in my school would remember this tall guy especially for his sports and getting caught in all sort of problems. Whatever the list is gonna be, you will find his name at the top. An alrounder, has interest in all sorts of fields from class room to sports almost everything.

One among the two Doctors, i can say future doctors in our gang. A very lively person to hangout with, not a little of 'bandha or scene' will u find in him which most of the guys of his status would have. Belated B'Day wishes machi from your loving schoolmates.

Professional's Treat...

Friends I almost forgot to inform you all about the treat we had last week. An emerging(already emerged) Professional G.Karthik celebrated his first month salary with us in restaurant near Adyar. He was the first person to join his work place, joined Sai-com solutions the day next to our final exams. He was dodging us with his first month salary treat, but my friends never gave him to even think about wat to do with his salary.

He decided to give us treat anywhere of our choice and let us to decided the place. We atlast planned some place near by and decided to go for Rain Forest. As many of my friends haven't been to that place, I preferred Rain Forest. Had a great dinner there for almost 3hours. Then moved from there to beasant nagar beach for a final touch with ice creams and as usual some fun in the beach sand. Had a great evening with all my friends with few left out for the evening. Its very difficult to bring all these guys to a place, we did it once and want another day with none left behind for the get together.

Its all my friend Praveen's( the one in the picture) help, i started blogging only after seeing his blog and things he got through it. Tanks for your help machi.....

Thank you Payperpost

First, I would like to thank Payperpost team for approving my blog. Payperpost, well many people are holding their nerves to be a part of it and for its approval, as many friends of mine are just longing for it. I would say it as a best place, where the advertisers and publishers can meet their needs.

Computers!!! You can find them at everyone's home. How come pc without internet, internet has become the most integral part of everyone's life, you can find any information at anytime. Online marketing is a new trend in today’s internet, what is online marketing is all about? It’s just promoting your products through internet. To be simple it’s just advertising your product online. Payperpost is one such leading provider of opportunities to advertisers and publishers (who publish the advertisement in their websites or blogs).

Payperpost is the place where advertisers find publishers, a small blogger like me need a motivation to carry on my blog, where I can even bag some cash to support my needs, so I found Payperpost. The best thing I love about it, is the easy architecture of their site where publishers can find advertisers easily not only through their site but also through other options like PPP Direct. Most attractive feature that many love in Payperpost is their customer love, any queries to them won’t take more than 48 hours.

Tom Cruise's Valkyrie

Hi Friends,

Here is the news for those who love Hollywood stuffs. Its all about the new movie of Mission Impossible hero Tom Cruise. His "Valkyrie" is another piece extracted from the pages of World war II.

Valkyrie is a real story based on incident that took place in Germany in 1944, not just an incident but an execution which went wrong. If not then, many pages of history would have got a different look and so as the World now.

The hero was so much attracted by the character of 'Claus Von Stauffenberg' as his picture resembles the real hero. The story board is based on the plan to execute 'Adolf Hitler' by Stauffenberg and his group, the first half of the movie explains about the characters in the movie and the later part is entirely about the execution. The character has been depicted perfectly and the star has done his part, by the end of the movie Stuaffenberg loses his left eye, right hand, fourth and fifth finger of his left hand and later was killed by Hitler at the end.

The movie produced by United Arts and MGM, was scheduled to hit the theaters by August '08, but as the crew could n find a best location for a battle sequence in which the hero loses his left eye and right hand, the schedule was extended to October '08, but since the filming is not completed by till date, the film would hit the theaters by February '09.

Talking Robofish

We know that creatures under water communicate with each other, But now even robots swimming underwater can do that. Kristi Morgansen, the creator of the robofish from the University of Washington made three of its kind, each 20inches long and six pounds in weight. They could eventually monitor the migrations of large mammals and the diffusion of environmental pollutants.

Fishes underwater communicate with each other with the help of lateral line, that runs each side of the body, It also detects various movements and vibratios in the water. Whereas, the robofish communicate by acoustic modem, pinging sound waves with each other. similar to land communications like radio signals. Radio signal travels upto 10ft in freshwater and lesser to that in saltwater. They are also equipped with pressure sensors and 3d compass, powered by nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries.

The current trio of robofish are limited to a small test pool at the University of Washington in Seattle and can't be put into the ocean. The next batch of robofish, expected to arrive next year, should venture into the waters of Puget Sound, where the researchers expect they will be able to track anything from large whales to microscopic environmental contaminants. But these robofishes are not fully autonomous

Every 20 minutes or so the next generation robofish would resurface to communicate with home base using a satellite link. At this point they would upload their data to the researchers and download any additional instructions. They could operate for up to six months at a time before returning home or being picked up by researchers in a boat, said Morgansen

James Tangorra, a researcher at Drexel University said "Fish-like propulsion might be more efficient, faster, and silent, allowing us to operate next to animals,"

Snowmote a snowmobile robot

With the rapid advancements in science and technology almost the entire Earth has been explored. But the exploration of the continent Antarctica still pose problems to most of the researchers due to nasty weather and with slippery terrain that constantly cracks and shifts.

Technical researchers at Georgia have proposed Snomotes- a small robot designed like a snowmobile will be able to deal with the drastic conditions there. After a lot of bulky designs they could develop 2 feet long robots with sensors, cameras and gauges attached to it. They envision dozens of Snomotes exploring and navigating on the icy surface deciding upon the way to carry out there tasks.

Next challenge was how will these robots navigate? There was a suggestion that the rocks on the surface would guide them but it dint not work out on such vast icy areas. Later they discovered the use of microscopic fissures in the ice and snow banks to guide their way. Simulations have been effective but lot of challenges await when they are put in real-time conditions. The researchers hope the robots will ultimately cost around $10,000, relatively cheap for governments.

According to Ayana Howard, professor at Georgia tech in Atlanta - for scientists to say with certainty how climate change is affecting the ice, they need plenty of accurate data points to create climate models. She envisions a field of 40 to 50 of the Snomotes wandering icy plains, a small army gathering data to shed light on global warming and other quandaries without breaking the bank.

"The whole concept is: How do you do this in the most affordable way?" she said.

ICC to decide on ICL

International Cricket Council (ICC) has formed a committee to end the issues regarding 'unauthorized cricket' like Indian Cricket League (ICL).

"The ICC committee will discuss a whole range of issues including various legal aspects," said the ICC spokesperson on Thursday.

This issue of ICL's status has been brought to the committee when cricket authorities from England, Australia, India and South Africa met on sidelines of the ICC meeting to discuss about the proposed Twenty20 Champions League in Dubai. The committee includes Lalit Modi(IPL chairman), ECB chairman Giles Clarke, CSA President Norman Arendse and ICC's David Becker.

The spokesperson also said "whatever conclusion is reached is in the best interests of the game"

The rebel ICL has informed ICC that it has moved legally to the world governing body, in London high court. The league is getting prepared for more than just next years game, it feels that the league ha been discriminated just because it has'n been recognized by ICC.

Many of the grounds in India have refused to conduct matches of ICL, as it has been stated as 'unauthorized cricket' by ICC. Also, the cricket playing nation's boards have refused to take the players playing in ICL. ICL has also filed a petition against BCCI, in delhi high court.

Solar Mirror melts Steel

Enterprising kids know you can melt crayons by focusing light on them with a magnifying glass. MIT students are now vaporizing wood, and can theoretically melt steel, by focusing sunlight with mirrors.

The students' 12-foot by 12-foot parabolic mirror, or solar concentrator, is made of off-the-shelf metal framing fitted with bent mirrors that focus the sun's light onto a single point.

The students have created a new company, RawSolar, to sell their patented dish design. "The first goal is to create a heat source that is cheaper than natural gas or oil," said Matt Ritter, one of the MIT students and Public Relations Manager for RawSolar. "An eventual application is electricity generation."

Solar collectors have been around for millenniums. The ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes reportedly turned an attacking Roman fleet to ash with one.

The design the used by the MIT team was first proposed by Doug Wood, a long time solar collector proponent who worked extensively with the students to develop the new parabolic shape. Both the mirrors and the scaffolding are exceedingly cheap and readily available, said Ritter, adding that the cost effectiveness is a big advantage of their design.

Initially, the company plans to focus on boiling water at about 250 degrees Celsius (482 degrees Fahrenheit) to create 'wet steam' for industrial and commercial applications. Much higher temperatures are feasible; Wood calculates that the solar collector could generate temperatures higher than 1,300 degrees C (2,372 F), hot enough to melt steel.

The group recently set up a demonstration dish on MIT's campus, where they proceeded to vaporize long wood beam. While focusing light to create high temperatures works easily, turning that heat into energy is less straightforward.

It's the last option that Scott Elrod, a solar concentrator researcher at the Palo Alto Research Center, finds most appealing. "The potential to reduce costs is so great [using high-concentration photovoltaics] that you can afford to buy more efficient photovoltaic cells, the same cells that are used in space craft," said Elrod.

"What they are doing is very interesting," said Elrod. "I think that solar concentrators are a very powerful approach to capturing sunlight and using it in the most cost effective way."

Recycling your Pc

People shift to new Laptops and desktops very often. Now, what do you do with that older Pc of yours? The good thing is to recycle it, right? we would consider this option since we do it for plastic bottles and aluminum cans. So why not recycle the plastics and metals in old computers.

IN today's world many computers and electronics are shipped to developing countries, including Indonesia China and India for recycling purposes. Lower wages, higher demand for used products and lower environmental protections mean that turning around old computers and their materials for sale increases their profit. (In the United States and Europe, it's usually a net cost.)

But, the recycling industry is a double-edged sword for the developing world. On one hand it provides jobs and increases availability to affordable used computers. On the other hand, it's typically done by backyard industries that use primitive processes with no environmental controls. Workers come into direct contact with potentially dangerous materials such as dioxins and lead. Precious metals are leached from circuit boards using acids and cyanide, which in addition to being dangerous chemicals themselves, mobilize lead and other toxins contained within.

Some argue that we should remove these toxic materials from electronics altogether in order to protect workers abroad. This would help, but some toxins, which don't exist in the product, are actually generated during the recycling processes. For example, in order to retrieve copper encased in insulated wire, workers heap the wire into a huge pile and burn it to remove the plastic casing. This emits many toxins, including dioxins that are carcinogenic.

So there are problems with recycling in the developing world. What about in the United States? There's a lot of activity to make recycling laws for electronics out of the fear is that people will chose the alternative option -- dumping the items in the trash -- and the toxic materials inside, such as lead and mercury, will leach out of landfills and contaminate groundwater.

So what's the alternative? In short, extend the lifespan of your computer. If you use a computer longer or can find another home for it when you don't need it anymore, you'll replace production of a new computer. (Did you know that it requires about 600 pounds of fossil fuel -- about 12 times the weight of the computer -- to manufacture a desktop computer with a CRT monitor?) There are donation agencies that accept old computers and fix them up to give to schools and other people who don't have one. The environmental benefit of this is far better than recycling in most cases.

In the end, I hope that people will think more about how to reuse their old computer and other electronics and that policy makers will take action to address informal recycling in developing countries.

Dhoni pulls out of Srilankan series

Non-stop cricket for the past one year has taken its toll on the Indian ODI skipper who pulled out of the upcoming test series in Sri Lanka starting on the 23rd of July.

Dhoni, who turned 27 on Monday, said he was exhausted due to the hectic schedule and wished to take a break after the Asia Cup to recharge his batteries.

"Dhoni met BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah and expressed his wish to take a break. He wants to opt out of the Test series," BCCI sources told PTI.

Dhoni has been playing non-stop for more than an year now. It started with India's 80-day tour of England in July last year followed by the Twenty20 World Championships in South Africa, an ODI series against Australia and a Test and ODI series against Pakistan at home, an acrimonious and arduous tour of Australia which stretched over two months, a Test series against South Africa at home, and then the the Indian Premier League (IPL).

And soon after the 44-day IPL ended where the Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings reached the final, India played a tri-series in Bangladesh and then took part in the Asia Cup, both times India were the runners-up.

Dhoni had criticised the hectic scheduling of games during the Asia Cup, in which India had to play back-to-back games twice.

Virender Sehwag is the latest to join India's long injury list after he sustained a groin injury. The Indian team physion has advised him 10 days rest. The selectors will choose the squad for Sri Lanka today and it is unclear whether Sehwag will be included though they will have to take his injury under consideration.

It is also learned that the selectors won't be considering S Sreesanth for the tour, since he is still on the injured list.

007 - Quantum of Solace

The next James Bond film is to be called Quantum of Solace, producers have confirmed. The title is taken from one of a collection of short stories published by 007 creator Ian Fleming in 1960.

Producer Michael Wilson said the film would have “twice as much action” as 2006’s Casino Royale, which saw Daniel Craig debut as the iconic secret agent. The next outing, previously known as Bond 22, is partly being shot at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. Filming on the movie has been taking place at Pinewood since November.

Daniel Craig said the cryptic title referenced how Bond’s heart had been broken at the end of Casino Royale: “Ian Fleming had written about relationships,” he explained. “When they go wrong, when there’s nothing left, when the spark has gone, when the fire’s gone out, there’s no quantum of solace. And at the end of the last movie, Bond has the love of his life taken away from him and he never got that quantum of solace.”

Craig said the new film would follow 007 as he goes out “to find the guy who’s responsible. So he’s looking for revenge, you know, to make himself happy with the world again. But the title also alludes to something else in the film.”

The movie is scheduled to release by 31st Oct in UK and 7th Nov in US theaters. The movie will also hit the screens on Nov 7 '08 in India.

For trailer and more details check the official Bond site 007

Ghajini bags 90 cr

The amnesiac businessman out to avenge his girlfriend’s killing took the Tamil industry by storm. And now, the Hindi version of Ghajini, directed A.R. Murgadoss, produced by Allu Aravind, with Aamir Khan and our very own Asin, has almost wrapped up. Currently we hear the film is in post-production with dubbing and editing work going on.

With every successive Indian mega-production touching new heights, be it in production quality or artistic achievements, is it any wonder then that Ghajini too has broken records? The distribution rights of the Hindi Ghajini have been sold for a breathtaking Rs. 90 crores!

The industry is quite awed that a still under-production film has fetched such a record price.

Pakistan court suspends Akhtar cricket ban

Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is free to play cricket after his 18-month ban for indiscipline was suspended by a Lahore High Court.

Shoaib, 32, lodged an appeal on Tuesday and his appeal against the ban will now be heard by the court in September. "The court has allowed Shoaib Akhtar to play cricket and the petition will be heard after the summer vacation," said Judge Zahid Hussain.

Shoaib must still pay the £57,000 fine imposed on him in April.

"Shoaib is temporarily allowed to play until the petition is heard, but he will have to give the fine," said Pakistan Cricket Board lawyer Taffazul Rizvi.

Shoaib has now set his sights on playing in the Champions Trophy in September - and warming up for that tournament by playing English county cricket.

"I am keeping fit and I'm going to England and try to play some county or league matches there and get in shape for the Champions Trophy," he said.

"I owe my name and fame to Pakistan, so I will never defame my country. I want to win the Champions Trophy for my country and for that I need everyone's support."

Prior to the ban's imposition, Shoaib had been serving a two-year probation for attacking team-mate Mohammad Asif with a bat.

The tribunal had temporarily lifted the ban to allow him to participate in the Indian Premier League, where he had a brief stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Zimbabwe to miss World Twenty20

Zimbabwe have been persuaded to pull out of the World Twenty20 in England next summer.

The ICC has been discussing Zimbabwe's future at a board meeting in Dubai after England and South Africa broke off cricketing relations last week. But the sport's governing body has decided Zimbabwe will not be suspended from international cricket.

The ICC's compromise decision should end any doubts about England hosting next year's World Twenty20 tournament.

Zimbabwe Cricket Union president Peter Chingoka told the AFP news agency his country had voluntarily pulled out of the event.

"Zimbabwe has agreed not to participate in the Twenty20 world championships in the wider interest of cricket," Chingoka said.

"But we will continue to be a full member of the ICC and welcome any team that wants to play against us. We voluntarily agreed to back out of the Twenty20 Worlds because we were told we won't get visas to England. We don't want to gate crash where we are not welcome."

The England and Wales Cricket Board stated last week it will not host a tour by Zimbabwe next year because of the close links between Zimbabwe Cricket and the regime of president Robert Mugabe.

This was after Cricket South Africa broke off relations with their near neighbours because of the political situation in the country. There had been calls for the ICC to remove the African country's full member status during a series of executive meetings this week. That would have been a controversial move and would have required at least seven of the 10 full member countries to agree. That appeared unlikely with Zimbabwe gaining support from the sub-continent, with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka throwing their backing behind the African nation.

Although the ICC would not take punitive action against the ECB for preventing Zimbabwe touring in the light of a formal government instruction, refusal to allow a full member to take part in the World Twenty20 could have resulted in the tournament being moved elsewhere.

Such a move would have been a huge financial blow to the ECB, with huge crowds expected at the three grounds chosen to host matches. The tournament schedule has already been published and tickets went on sale at 1000 BST on Monday.

ECB chairman Giles Clarke said he was satisfied with the outcome from the meeting in Dubai. "This matter led to a complex and lengthy series of negotiations," Clarke told BBC Radio 5 Live. "We've had long discussions with our colleagues on the ICC over the last three days and we're grateful they saw the point of view we held."

The Morning Glory Pool

The Morning Glory Pool is a hot spring in Yellowstone Park, named in this peculiar manner, not because it arouses men first thing in the morning, but because it, apparently, resembles a morning glory flower. The colours are due to bacteria, which give it the bright, comic-book style colours, but that's a-changin'.

Long a favored destination for park visitors, Morning Glory Pool was named in the 1880s for its remarkable likeness to its namesake flower. However, this beautiful pool has
fallen victim to vandalism. People have thrown literally tons of coins, trash, rocks, and logs into the pool. Much of the debris subsequently became embedded in the sides and vent of the spring, affecting water circulation and accelerating the loss of thermal energy. Through the years Morning Glory's appearance has changed as its temperature dropped. Orange and yellow bacteria that formerly colored only the periphery of the spring now spread toward its center.
